π§ Things to Know Before You Launch Your Token on Solana
Before you hit that "Create Token" button on MintCoin.fun, take a minute to define the key ingredients that will shape your token's identity. From the name to the supply, every field in the form matters. Here's what each one means and how to pick wisely:
π·οΈ Name & Symbol
Your token's name and symbol are its first impression, think of them like your coin's brand. Ideally, they match your project or vibe.
If you're not tied to an NFT or community yet, choose something original, easy to remember, and catchy enough to stand out.
π Description
This is your chance to share the why behind your coin.
What's the story? A joke? A movement? A game token?
Keep it short and snappyβjust a few words that give your token context.
π’ Decimals
Decimals decide how divisible your token is. On Solana, you can pick from 0 to 9.
- 0 = No decimals. Good for whitelist spots, raffle entries, or non-divisible access tokens.
-
6 to 9 = Best for meme coins, utility tokens, or governance tokens.
- 6 is the most common β it's the sweet spot between usability and simplicity.
π° Supply
Your total supply = how many tokens will ever exist.
This number affects your token's economics, pricing, and scarcity. Think about your project's vision: is it a billion-coin meme token, or a 10,000-unit exclusive club pass?
πΌοΈ Logo Image
Your token's image matters more than you think, especially for meme coins.
A clean, fun, or meme-worthy logo makes your coin instantly recognizable in wallets, marketplaces, and DEXs like Raydium. Make it unique, make it viral.
π‘ Pro Tips
- Want it on Raydium's DEX? You'll need to create a liquidity pool. We have a guide (HERE)
- Promote your token's token addressβthis is how people can trust it's the real one.
- Use your token to:
- Reward your community
- Power your DAO or Discord
- Meme your way to moon status π
